This week, I want to tell you about some of the most important work we do. It’s in faith communities, and by that I mean Christian, Muslim, Jewish, and more. Reverend Linda Taylor is the person on our staff who leads this work.

Her encounter with Living Room Conversations has proven deeply fortunate for all of us. You see her contributions most clearly on this page, devoted to sharing Conversations with faith communities of all kinds.

I want you to know about the resources on this page even if you are not in a faith community! That’s because Linda is one of our foremost thinkers and doers when it comes to “conference-style” Living Room Conversations. Linda teaches and models to all sorts of groups how to hold a large event made up of many small tables, each doing a Living Room Conversation. But that’s only part of what we are able to offer, thanks to Linda–who is a volunteer! In previous careers, she was a nurse and an electronics drafter. (She’s also a Texan, a career unto itself!) This may account for her unusual blend of insight, analysis, and passionate compassion. That depth fuels Linda’s work not only with Living Room Conversations, but as an Episcopal priest, spiritual director, conflict coach, and life coach. She is a beautiful writer who helps edit this weekly email, and a donor-fundraiser for Living Room Conversations.

Perhaps most of all, Linda is an organizer. She is on fire to provide the tools and set others on their own paths to using them. You’ll find evidence of her quiet work behind the scenes in Vineyard Boise’s program of Living Room Conversations. And you’ll find it again in our powerful partnership with America Indivisible that resulted in the recent event “Reckoning with Jefferson: A Nationwide Conversation on Race, Religion and the America We Want to Be,” on Jefferson’s birthday, April 13. Linda also supports creation of community- and denomination-specific Living Room Conversations, including The UMC Rift: Faithfulness in Divided Times and Politics in Faith Communities.
